If I can be a touch self indulgent…
Although being at the home game against Man City, in particular those 10 minutes in the second half, was absolutely spectacular, my personal highlight of this season was being incredibly lucky enough to win a place at a meet and greet session at Melwood. I have never won anything in my life so to win a prize such as this was absolutely astonishing.
At the time I was in a bad place. We had lost my father in law leaving my husband and his mum
devastated. It was up to me to pick up the pieces and in the end it had got to me and I was signed off work with depression. Then I replied to a New Balance tweet, never really considering I’d win, only to receive a message asking if I was available to travel to Liverpool to watch training.
I know it sounds ridiculous but the irrational part of me believed then and still believes now my father in law played some part in making it happen. He saw I needed a pick me up and this is what he came up with. And boy did it do the trick! Thanks Dad.
I met player after player who couldn’t have been nicer or friendlier, or more generous with their time. The look on my nephew’s face when he clocked Mo Salah will stay with me for a long time.
But the best bit for me was obviously a picture with Jürgen. I just couldn’t believe it. Here was a man I adored, a man I run a blog dedicated to (!) and here he was putting his arm around my shoulders. It was a moment I’ll never forget and something no one can ever take from me.
And when I felt like there was no way out, it came at just the right time.
