Reports yesterday revealed that Southampton’s owners have got themselves in quite the tissy fit after Virgil Van Dijk made it clear that he wants to move to Liverpool FC. The Dutchman’s finalisation of where he wants to move has robbed the Southampton owners of the bidding war they were hoping for and as such, the club have opted to report Liverpool to the Premier League for ‘tapping up’ the centre half. 

However, the South coast club unsuccessfully tried to take the same measures in previous years to stop the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Nathaniel Clyne and Calum Chambers all from leaving the club and it is highly felt that this is simply a publicity stunt to make it look to fans as if the club are fighting hard to keep a key player. 

The club are expected to “strongly reject,” Southampton’s claims.

According to Sky Sports, Virgil Van Dijk has told Liverpool that they are his preferred destination this Summer ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea. 

Personal terms have not yet been finalised but it is thought that the Reds will match Manchester City’s offer of £200,000 a week. Huge news!
